Christmas Spirit?

What do you think of when you think of Christmas? The million presents you'll find when you wake up in the morning? The stuffed stocking hanging from the fireplace? Eggnog guzzling and candy cane binging? Caroling and listening to Christmas music on the radio from Thanksgiving to the very special day? Or maybe all you can think is "Bah Hum Bug!" Is all this real Christmas spirit? Or is this just what America wants us to believe Christmas spirit is? America makes a huge deal about Santa Claus, only to crush our dreams when we find out there really isn't a jolly old guy in a red suit delivering presents to our house Christmas eve. Santa Claus has become such a huge icon in the U.S. that if you don't know who he is, there has to be something wrong with you. How do think people who AREN'T Christian feel when they turn on the radio and the only thing that they hear is Christmas music? What happened to freedom of religion? It's like America wants us all to be Christian, or expects that we are all Christian. Yes, I'm Christian, but I don't believe that I would like it if everyone was making a big deal about some other holiday around me! So take a second to think about all this, and ask yourself if you've fallen into the American "Christmas Spirit."
